PLYMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – A Plymouth State University quarterback has been charged with assault after police said they found him holding his girlfriend against her will.
Plymouth State University quarterback Tye Seastedt, 22, was arrested Friday night. Officials said that two campus security guards heard Seastedt arguing in an on-campus apartment and called university police.
The woman told police that Seastedt threw her cell phone against a wall. Police said she was calling for help because of a knife wound to her hand.
Police said Seastedt told them she cut herself while doing the dishes, but the woman told police the cut happened when she tried to take the knife from Seastedt, who she said was threatening to hurt himself.
The woman was treated and released for her injury.
PSU officials said that the university’s judicial board is reviewing the case.
Seastedt is scheduled to return to court later this month.
Editor’s note: The charge of simple assault in this case was dismissed in November 2007.
