BOSTON (AP) – A New Hampshire woman who was in the home stretch of adopting a baby boy in Lebanon when fighting broke out was back in the United States on Tuesday – with her son.

Laura Gabriel of Salem and baby Logan were greeted at Logan International Airport late Tuesday afternoon.

Gabriel was in Beirut completing the adoption of her son when the country was attacked. Her husband, Scot Gabriel, said that she was unable to get a passport for Logan allowing him to travel to the United States.

After intervention by U.S. officials, Laura Gabriel was able to secure the paperwork she needed last week. The family was evacuated to Cyprus on Saturday, but they had been stuck there waiting for a plane to the United States.

“Unbelievable. I’m so happy to be home,” Laura Gabriel said. “I can’t believe that I’m here. I can’t believe that I’m here with my baby Logan at Logan Airport.”
