AUBURN — Plans to tear down and replace a bridge along Old Danville Road in Auburn’s southern tip gets a public review next week.
Representatives from the Maine Department of Transportation will host a review of the Royal River Bridge replacement project at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 in Auburn Hall.
Project Manager Nate Benoit said plans call for closing Old Danville Road for two months next summer and detouring traffic around the project.
“There’s not a lot of traffic on the road, so we don’t think it should be a big problem,” Benoit said. “We’re still working on the details, but we have a pretty good idea of what we want to do.”
Crews are still designing the bridge and figuring out when work would begin.
“We want to make sure we have the support of the neighbors and property owners,” Benoit said. “At this stage, we are still very flexible and willing to make changes if they are necessary.”
