ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) – A 20-year-old man broke into an Andover apartment and stabbed his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend before ending up with stab wounds himself, police said on Tuesday.

Aleksandre Vaida, of Lackawanna, N.Y., was in critical condition after the 10 a.m. incident in a flat near Andover center.

“During a struggle, Mr. Vaida sustained a stab wound to his chest,” Chief Brian Pattullo said.

Vaida allegedly stabbed a 23-year-old who lives in the apartment, and her boyfriend, a 24-year-old Lawrence man. They suffered “multiple stab wounds” and were in serious condition, Pattullo said.

Vaida will be charged with home invasion and two counts each of armed assault with intent to murder and armed assault in a dwelling, police said.
