NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (AP) – Former acting Gov. Jane Swift has donated thousands documents and photos from her tenure on Beacon Hill to the North Adams Public Library.
Swift, a North Adams native, will deliver the archive on Oct. 22. Her official gubernatorial portrait, which will be unveiled at the Statehouse on Oct. 24, will be previewed at the event.
“I have so many fond memories of the North Adams library,” Swift told The Transcript of North Adams. “My mom brought me there all the time growing up, and my mom still brings my daughters there today.”
Swift said the archives include correspondence, congratulatory notes, speeches and other items. There are about 1,000 notes from well-wishers after Swift had twins in May 2001, along with a letter from White House chief of staff and Massachusetts native Andrew Card.
