PEABODY, Mass. (AP) – A Swampscott father pleaded innocent Monday to assaulting an 8-year-old boy on his son’s youth hockey team.
Jordan Waldman, 50, was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment in Peabody District Court. He’s accused of grabbing, shaking and cursing at his 6-year-old son’s teammate after the two boys traded elbows on the ice during a Salem-Swampscott Youth Hockey Association game against Masconomet on Dec. 26.
Eight-year-old Cameron Byrne wasn’t hurt, but his father filed a complaint charging Waldman with one count of assault and battery.
Judge Patricia Dowling ordered Waldman to stay away from Byrne and his family. He’s due back in court on April 13.
In the meantime, the league has banned Waldman from attending any games.
