RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) – The president of the Vermont State Fair has been replaced.

The Rutland County Agricultural Society, the organization that operates the fair, voted for fair manager Richard Rivers to replace Robert Kelley as president.

Rivers won by a vote of 72-54.

The two men have been in a private feud since the end of the 10-day fair in September. The hostilities reached a peak last month when Rivers had Kelley served with no trespass orders to stay away from his home and the fairgrounds.

But the bitter feelings between the pair weren’t on public display Wednesday during the 160th annual meeting of the Rutland County Agricultural Society.

After the votes were counted, Kelley told the members he was grateful for the opportunity to serve on the board for five years and advised the fair to do more with the fairgrounds.
