MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) -A judge ruled Monday to make public more information in the case of a man charged with murdering his sister and her two children.

Norman Champagne, Manchester District Court Judge, ruled that affidavits in support of search and arrest warrants for Christopher Bernard be unsealed as of this Friday. The only thing that could stop that is if the attorney general’s office appeals, which it had planned to do.

A request to unseal the documents was made by The Union Leader. The attorney general had argued against it, saying the need for disclosure is secondary to the need for a thorough investigation.

of the crimes.

Last week, Champagne released edited versions of search and arrest warrant affidavits, which contained only information heard during a hearing on the Bernard case last week. At that hearing, Champagne ruled there was probable cause to charge Bernard and the case was forwarded to Hillsborough County Superior Court for possible indictment by a grand jury.

Bernard, who tried to kill himself after allegedly murdering his sister and her two young children, confessed to stabbing them to death on Oct. 4, a detective testified.

Killed were Tricia Doyle, and her children, Gillian, 4, and James, 2. The bodies were found in Bernard’s home.
