Dear Sun Spots: Having recently acquired a copy of my birth certificate at Lewiston City Hall, and discovering I was born at Keatings Private Hospital in Androscoggin County in July of 1930, I wonder if readers might have information on this hospital? I would appreciate any information on its history and location. Looking forward to hearing recollections readers might know of. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I was wondering if you can help me locate any descendants of Almeda James Lee, born Dec. 16, 1875. She married Albert John Lee, and they resided in the Jay/Livermore area. I’m very involved in finding the missing links to my genealogy and look forward to hearing from my distant relatives. Please contact me via e-mail at jodyherb87@yahoo.com or call 897-7046 Ask for Jody. – Jody, No Town.

Answer: Besides responses from readers, consider contacting the Maine State Archives to see if they can assist you with this inquiry. You may reach them at Maine State Archives, 84 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333, 287-5788. Also, you might consider checking with the local historical societies in the towns where these relatives resided. It’s possible they might have something on file.

Dear Sun Spots: First of all, we need to send our gratitude to you and your readers. You put my letter in the Sun Spots section of the paper asking for a lawyer to volunteer his/her time to Emily’s Wish. Because of you, our 8-year-old daughter Emily now has an attorney (Sonia Buck from Linnell, Choate, and Webber) who works for Emily on a volunteer basis.

Emily’s Wish has grown into something wonderful over the course of the year. It not only helps children who are victims of house fires, but it is now working toward giving toys to kids who are victims of other disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, abuse, and homelessness and more.

But once again, we are asking for your readers’ help.

Emily’s Wish really needs a self-storage area to store all of the toys donated to us. We were offered the use of an apartment to store the toys, and were very grateful but would feel more comfortable with a storage unit. Thank you for all of your help. Your readers may contact us at 713-6114 or e-mail us at emilyswishes@wmconnect.com. – Thank you, Lisa, Emily, and the Beaulieu Family, No Town.
