AUBURN – Lewiston-Auburn letter carriers will participate in the nationwide Stamp Out Hunger program Saturday, May 9.
It is the nation’s largest single-day food drive, having collected more than 909 million pounds of food since its inception in 1993. Last year, a record 73.1 million pounds of food was gathered.
Residents may leave a sturdy bag containing nonperishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal next to their mailboxes prior to the time of regular mail delivery Saturday.
The letter carriers will collect the donations from homes across the Twin Cities and deliver them to Good Shepherd Food-Bank in Auburn.
