NEW GLOUCESTER – Former Town Manager Rosemary Kulow has been named city manager for Rockland, effective Jan. 20.

Kulow said by telephone from her New Gloucester home on Monday, “I’m thrilled to be getting back to a full-service city management position.”

Population 7,800

She will oversee management of the town of 7,800 residents. Rockland is a midcoast service-centered community with businesses, museums and a working waterfront.

She will be paid an $86,000 salary.

Kulow resigned from her New Gloucester post in mid-September after five years. She was a semifinalist for a similar position in Warren, R.I.

In recent months, Kulow served as a planner for the Greater Portland Council of Governments, a nonprofit organization that provides services, including planning, to 25 Cumberland County municipalities.
