Gabriel, right, played by Tom McKellick, explains to Mary, played by Christina Petrulli, that she has been chosen to carry the child Jesus during the Vineyard Church’s presentation of the “Nativity Live!” on Friday night. “We want people to understand that these are people that really lived,” said Robbi Starnegg, director and writer of the adaptation. “I mean, Mary could have died because she was unmarried and pregnant and the penalty at that time was stoning to death.” The production blends the ancient story of the Nativity with the contemporary in a way, Starnegg hopes, people can relate to their own lives. The show is free to the public and can be seen at 2 p.m., 4p.m., and 7 p.m. today (Saturday).
