AUBURN – Two local men who were child survivors of the Holocaust will speak at 4 p.m., Sunday at Temple Shalom Synagogue-Center, 74 Bradman St., in observance of the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Glass” that began the Nazi reign of terror against the Jews of Germany 70 years ago.

Temple Shalom member Ernie Wallach, who has spoken before about his experiences as a child survivor, will speak about a trip he and his family made to Germany and Belgium earlier this year, to trace the story of his birth family’s Holocaust experiences.

Ernie Weiss, a resident of Cumberland, will talk about his book, “Out of Vienna: Eight Years of Flight from the Nazis” (Xlibris, 2008), which describes the experiences of his large and close-knit family fleeing from the Nazi takeover of the Austrian capital. Weiss will have copies of his book available for sale.

The program kicks off Temple Shalom’s annual Book Fair, starting at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9. Featuring a large variety of volumes with Jewish content and themes for readers of all ages and interests, books can be purchased on the spot. The book fair will remain open through Sunday, Nov. 16. In addition to the program on Nov. 9, visitors may browse the book fair and place orders during the synagogue’s regular office hours, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday to 3 p.m.
