DURHAM – An Auburn motorcyclist escaped apparent injury Saturday and was arrested after losing control of his bike on Stackpole Road at the intersection of Route 136.
Christopher Morris, 40, was arrested and booked at the Androscoggin County Jail by Deputy Sheriff Craig MacMillan on charges of operating under the influence, operating without a license and operating an uninspected vehicle.
Deputy MacMillan said Morris was driving his motorcycle at a high rate of speed on Stackpole Road as he approached Route 136, couldn’t stop for a stop sign and “laid his bike down.” The Androscoggin River runs close to Route 136 in that area and several cars have plunged into the river in that location over the years.
Damage was estimated at between $800 and $900 to Morris’ 1993 Suzuki in the 11:45 a.m. mishap. Morris was released on bail.
