LEWISTON – A worker for a Topsham company remained in critical condition Tuesday night, five days after being struck by a pickup while painting traffic lines on Sabattus Street.

Edward Elwell, 46, of Topsham was listed in critical condition at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, a nursing supervisor said Tuesday evening.

Elwell was working with his two sons at about 10 p.m. on Oct. 9 when a pickup truck driven by a woman hit him, police said. The driver’s name had not been released as of Tuesday, pending the investigation.

Elwell is employed by Pine Tree Safety Lines.
