AUGUSTA – The annual Dress Revue was held May 3 at the Maine State Grange. The revue is the results of the Grange sewing contest, which runs from September 2007 to April 30, 2008. Members and non-members may enter.

There are six classes to enter, but the participant is eligible to win only one construction prize a class at any level, regardless of the number of garments entered. A person may enter any number of garments, but all must be entered through the same subordinate grange.

Professionals in the field of fashion may enter – designer, teacher, dressmaker. Non-members may enter but are ineligible for the grand prize. Classes are: Class A, adults; Class B, teens; Class C, children’s garments; Class D, professionals; Class E, wearable art; and Class N, non-members.

Winners were as follows:

Class A: first, Helen Clifford, Minot Center Grange 266; second, her sister, Mary Goss, Minot Center Grange; and third, Kathy Gowen of Highland Lake 87.

Class B: honorable mention, Marjorie Hardy of Knox Station 579.

Class C: first, Mary Platt of East Eddington 301; second, Sally Downing of Valley Grange 144; and third, Sally Porter of Golden Harvest Grange 33.

Class D: Donna Beauchesne of St. Albans Grange 114.

Class E: Laurie McBurnie of Lincoln Grange 19.

A whoopie pie baking contest was held and women’s division winners were: first, Debbie Day of Porter 569; second, Carolyn Gauthier of West Minot Grange; third, Mildred Gibbs of Harvest Home Grange; men’s division: Phil Parsons of Bangor 372, James Rogers of Chelsea and William Bemis of Garland Grange 76.
