DURHAM – Slippery road conditions were blamed for a two-vehicle wreck late Wednesday afternoon on Route 125.
According to Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Rielly Bryant, Melissa Hamel, 25, of Lisbon, was driving northerly, hit a bump on the snow-covered road and skidded into the southbound lane, colliding with a vehicle operated by 32 year-old Timothy Allard of Portland.
Hamel was taken to a Brunswick hospital for evaluation and treatment and released, Bryant said. Allard was not injured. Hamel’s 1997 Jeep Wrangler was demolished as was Allard’s 1993 Lincoln Town Car in the 5:30 p.m. crash.
Just over an hour later, Bryant was dispatched to a car-truck crash on Newell Brook Road. Roy Wenger, 30, of Durham was driving westerly when he came upon a vehicle that was in the process of reversing direction, attempted to drive around the car and struck an oncoming pickup driven by Roland Curit, 61, of Freeport. Neither driver was injured.
Wenger’s 2007 Subaru was demolished and Bryant estimated damage at $2,000 to Curit’s 2002 GMC pickup.
