Board: Lewiston City Council
Met: Tuesday night
Traffic Patterns
Issue: Southern Lewiston development means more traffic conflicts and accidents. City staff recommended changing some intersections to clean things up.
The scoop: Councilors approved adding stop signs at the Jill and Pleasant streets intersection and along North Lisbon Road at a private drive. They approved adding a yield sign at the Jill and Primrose streets intersection.
Appointments
Issue: City government relies on support and advisory committees with limited authority to make or interpret city rules and decide policy. In some cases, the groups simply advise the city council. Some represent the city to national or state groups while others work closer to home.
The scoop: Councilors appointed City Administrator Jim Bennett and City Clerk Kathy Montejo to the voting and alternate positions representing the city to Maine Municipal Association. They appointed Marc Pellerin of 22 Pond Ridge Road to the Lewiston Housing Authority Board through Sept. 2012.
