FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington Archaeology Research Center is seeking volunteers to participate in the continuing excavation of the Beaver Pond site in Turner from Aug. 14 to 18 and 20 to 24.

Over the past several years, the approximately 10,000-year-old Native American camp site has provided significant evidence of a post-glacial time period that is little known in the Northeast.

Many volunteers in the past have assisted in unearthing thousands of chips from hunting, hide-working and daily survival implements.
