Seven candidates vie for three seats on board TURNER – Seven candidates will vie for three selectmen’s seats when voters here head to the polls Tuesday.

One will be unopposed. Another has four people – Alvin Barrett, Eric Breidenstein, Jody Goodwin and Calvin Rose Sr. – competing for a single seat.

The reason is the sudden departure of three selectmen: Charlie Mock, Ralph Caldwell and Chairman Dennis Richardson.

All three announced in May they were leaving, all for different reasons.

Mock is planning to move out of town. Caldwell wants to focus more on his business and family. Richardson is traveling more and more for business and finds it harder to make time for the board.

It has shaken up the five-member group. Of the current board, only Lawrence House and Angelo Terreri will remain.

In Tuesday’s election, Kurt Youland will appear alone on the ballot for the three-year term. Two candidates – Joan Bryant-Deschenes and Richard Keene – will vie for the one-year seat.

Turner’s polls, located at the Town Office, are scheduled to be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
