AUGUSTA – Eleven Maine community college students will be named to the All-Maine Academic Team for two-year colleges at a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Senator Inn. The event will be hosted by the Maine Community College System board of trustees.

The students receiving the award and a $500 scholarship from KeyBank are:

Mark Castonguay, Livermore Falls, Central Maine Community College in Auburn.

E. Jeanette Hatch, Medford, Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor.

Katherine J. Cummings, Brewer, Eastern Maine Community College.

Tina Willett, Winslow, Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield.

Michaele C. Black, Presque Isle, Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle.

Michael C. Schell Jr., Saco, Southern Maine Community College in South Portland.

Heather A. Huntley, South Portland, Southern Maine Community College.

Lori Barbee, Cherryfield, Washington County Community College in Calais.

Maria Evans, Robbinston, Washington County Community College.

Nicholas Johnson, Sanford, York County Community College in Wells.

Troy Williams, York Beach, York County Community College.

Schell will also be honored as Maine’s New Century Scholar in recognition of having achieved the highest All-USA Academic Team application score in the state. He will represent Maine at the American Association of Community Colleges’ annual convention in April, where he will receive a $2,000 scholarship.

The All-Maine Academic Team is part of the national Phi Theta Kappa program (www.ptk.org), an international honor society for two-year colleges designed to recognize academic excellence, leadership and community service.
