LEWISTON – Police are searching for a man accused of sneaking into a woman’s home and touching himself while she slept early Thursday morning.
Police said a 21-year-old Wood Street woman told them she awoke about 12:30 a.m. to find a man standing over her bed masturbating.
“Shocked by this, she began screaming,” police Lt. Michael McGonagle wrote in a statement. Police said the man fled the apartment when the woman began shouting. The 21-year-old then called police who went over to the apartment. The man was not found.
Police believe the suspect entered the home through a front door which had been unlocked. It was not known how long he had been inside the apartment before the sleeping woman woke.
The woman did not know the man, police said.
Based on the victim’s description, police created a composite sketch of the suspect. He was described as between 15 and 25 years old, of average height and weighing between 175 and 200 pounds.
Police are asking that anyone with information about the incident phone Detective Brian O’Malley at 795-9000, ext. 230.
