DURHAM – A Durham truck driver complained of pain after the tractor truck he was driving Monday morning crashed off Auburn-Pownal Road.

Deputy Sheriff Craig MacMillan said Durbon Davis Sr., 62, swerved the vehicle onto the right shoulder to avoid hitting a deer. It rolled over onto its side near a stream that feeds into Runaround Pond, he said.

Initially, Davis said he wasn’t hurt, but about three hours later he complained of pain and told police he would get medical care, MacMillan said.

Durham Fire Department was called when smoke was seen coming from the truck, but it was determined to be from an auxiliary power switch. No fluids leaked into the water, the deputy said.

The 2006 Volvo is owned by Pottle’s Transport of Bangor and had extensive damage on the right side.
