Dear Sun Spots: Enjoy your column as usual with recipes, pricing of antiques, locations, missing classmates, poetry and addresses of performers.

Again I turn to you for your knowledgeable assistance. The insert addition dated Sept. 28, 2005, titled River Valley Expo has a photograph on the front. I am trying to find out the exact location, precise if possible, for photography work to use as a subject in an oil painting, which I do during the long winter months. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. – Mac., Lewiston.

Answer: Sun Spots checked in with Sun Journal employee Susan Fourness, who says she took that photo in July at Screw Auger Falls in the Grafton Notch State Park, north of Sunday River. She says it is a beautiful place, about an hour-and-a-half drive to anyone not familiar with the area. She would be happy to e-mail the photo to you.

In the meantime, she admits she’s not any sort of professional but just loves to have a record of places she visits, events and people in her life. While relatively new to Maine, she describes herself as a great outdoorsperson. On a nice warm day, you’re apt to find her checking out the list of state parks, conservation areas, local trails and mountains, get in her car, camera in hand and head for one of those places. Fourness loves her digital camera and calls her photo a “lucky shot,” and says she was just in the right place when she took the photo.

Dear Sun Spots: Please help warm a child’s holiday.

Dear Sun Spots: For the lady who has paint on her cups or glasses: Please tell her to try paint remover. It worked for me. – Leo, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: In one of your recent requests I believe someone in Lewiston was asking for yarn donations. I neglected to cut out the name of the organization. I think it was a Catholic organization in Lewiston. If you have the name, I would appreciate having it as I do have some yarn I would like to give. – Connie Beedy, No Town.

Answer: Sun Spots believes you may be referring to the Oct. 14 column in which Catholic Charities’ SEARCH (Seek Elderly Alone, Renew Courage and Hope) program was greatly in need of four-ply yarn of all colors and in good condition to continue making hats, mittens, baby things, lap robes and other warm objects, which in turn are given to the needy of all ages in Androscoggin County. Their people are very happy to pick these items up. For more information, please call the office at (207) 784-0157 and ask for SEARCH. It is open every weekday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Incidentally, Sun Spots received a call from SEARCH to say they’ve been thrilled with the “fabulous reception” from column readers. They currently have about three offices with small mountains of some lovely colorful yarn that readers have mailed in or contacted them for pickup. They are very grateful for the donations. Way to go, readers!!

Dear Sun Spots: The Cougar Moon Foundation will hold a holistic healing fair on from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Family Development Center, Valerie Circle, Auburn (up behind the Ground Round Restaurant off Center Street).

We need people who are willing to donate some time and pay $50 for a table the day of the fair. We need an herbalist, acupuncturist/acupressurist, massage therapist and reflexologist. You may charge for your services at this fair and keep the profits.
