AUBURN – Police talked a suicidal 22-year-old Lewiston woman out of jumping off the Longley Bridge and into the near-freezing Androscoggin River shortly after 8:30 Sunday night.

The woman was taken by police in a cruiser to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston for evaluation.

Cops from both Lewiston and Auburn responded to the call of a possible bridge jumper. The bridge separates the Twin Cities’ downtowns.
