AUBURN – Firefighters quickly knocked down a smoldering blaze in a wall of a four-bay garage belonging to Dead River Co. Sunday evening.

The 177 Turner St. alarm was called in about 5:50 p.m. by an employee who was at the garage at the time.

Platoon Chief Bruce Goddard said damage should be minimal. A section of the wall had to be removed and insulation pulled out so firefighters could get at the blaze.

Goddard said crews were also seeking to determine what had sparked the fire. A nearby heating appliance was one possible source, he noted.

Four engines, an aerial platform truck, a rescue truck and a command vehicle responded to the call.
