AUBURN – Central Maine Community College will hold its fifth annual international celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Kirk Hall Gym. The public is invited to join in this evening of food, entertainment and activity. Tickets are available at the door $5 or $15 for a family of four or more.

For the second year, there will be a bread auction; volunteers will provide loaves of bread from different cultures to be sold to the highest bidder. Proceeds will go to Telefood, a U.N. agricultural support program for developing countries.

Participants can sample an international buffet of traditional foods from around the world. Entertainment will include drumming, with members of Inana. Participants are invited to bring along their own drums. There will also be a Celtic folk sing-along and traditional dancing.

The International Celebration is sponsored by CM’s International Students’ Club. Club advisor Faryl Orlinsky said, “CM’s annual international celebration is a way for the students here to promote their cultural identities both individually and as a college community and for the greater community to join in that celebration.”
