TURNER – Firefighters worked quickly Saturday to save an automobile shop that has been in Turner for decades.

At about 6 p.m., a caller reported seeing smoke coming from Willie’s Auto Body on Auburn Road.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered that the smoke was coming from a small concrete building attached to the main business. “The boys got in there, and they did a great knock-down,” said Turner Fire Chief Steven Fish.

The fire was out in about 15 minutes. The building, which was mostly used for storage, suffered no major structural damage, and the main building was completely unharmed, Fish said.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation Saturday night. Fish didn’t believe it was anything suspicious.

Fire crews from Leeds, Greene, Livermore, Buckfield and Auburn responded to help the volunteer crews from Turner.
