LEWISTON – The Kora Shriners will host free medical screening clinics at 13 locations throughout southern and central Maine on Saturday, May 14.

The clinic, designed to identify children who may benefit from the medical care that Shriners Hospitals for Children provide, will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Appointments are recommended, but not required.

There is never a charge to the patient, parent or any third party for any medical treatment received at Shriners Hospitals. The facilities accept and treat children without regard to race, religion or relationship to a Shriner.

Any child may be eligible for treatment at a Shriners Hospital if the child is under 18 and if, in the opinion of the hospital’s chief of staff, the child has an orthopedic or burn condition that Shriners Hospitals can treat.

Over more than 80 years, Shriners Hospitals for Children have provided free medical care to approximately 735,000 children with orthopedic problems, severe burns and spinal cord injuries. Founded in 1922 and supported by more than 450,000 members of the international Shriners fraternity, the network of pediatric specialty hospitals is located across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
