LEWISTON – A Friday morning accident involving a police cruiser was the result of a call for backup for a fight at Rockin’ Robins, not the Blue Goose as reported.

According to police, an early morning brawl at Rockin’ Robins prompted a call for backup from Lewiston police. One of the responding officers lost control of his cruiser in his haste to get to the scene and crashed into the foundation of an apartment building near the Blue Goose on Sabattus Street. There was no complaint of a fight at the Blue Goose.

“I talked to a a few people and they’re comparing my place with Rockin’ Robins,”said Earl St. Hilaire, owner of the Blue Goose. “I’m kind of upset.”

St. Hilaire has owned the Blue Goose for a little more than a year.

“I intend to keep it the way it’s going,” he said. “There are no problems here.”

Lt. Thomas Avery said damage to the cruiser was extensive. He was unsure whether it would be repaired or replaced.
