Elm Street School’s eighth grade is having a robotics war. The main goal is for the students to build a robot that can pick up three ping-pong balls and put them in a dish before their opponent does. Students have fifteen days to complete their robot. So far, some pairs have tried to suck the ping-pong balls up, using a tube. On the other side, there are pairs who are thinking of picking them up with a claw.
Mr. Normand Parks, the middle school technical education teacher, will present chocolate milk and doughnuts to any class that has a student beat his robot.
“It is hard work building a robot, but in the end I think that it will be a lot of fun seeing how everyone does in the competition” says Allison Gary, one of the eighth graders.
The competition will be held in November. The outcome of this event should prove to be a very exciting event.
