1) What legislation do you support, if any, to address the state’s opiate crisis?
Support for rehab centers provided they demonstrate successful treatment outcomes. I also support stiffer penalties for illegal drug trafficking.

2) What legislation do you support, if any, to address failures in the state’s child abuse prevention system?
More accountability is needed, followed by additional funding, if needed. Keeping kids with certified and reliable relatives or friends is a good alternative to putting them in the system.

3) Should schools continue to push forward with proficiency-based diplomas? Why or why not?
No, this was voted down and left up to local choice.

4) Are you in favor of some type of universal health care for Maine residents? Why, or why not?
Healthcare should not be mandated and a variety of care should be available in the free market. Costs for lower-income earners should be reduced at a gradual rate to avoid creating a welfare cliff.

5) Do you support Question 1 (the 3.8% tax to fund the home care program)? Why, or why not?
No, it will bankrupt our state and not help those who need it the most. It is driven by outside political forces and funders.

6) Are you frustrated by the political sniping, exaggeration and even lies between the parties and their supporters that have threatened progress usually reached through respect and reasoned compromise? If so, what will you personally do to make the situation better?Most of the sniping seems to come from Washington, DC. I ask people to focus on the policies and not hold the wrong people accountable for disruptive personalities.

I played co-ed lacrosse in college.
