Jeannine Lucille Patten
1940 – 2009
LEWISTON — Jeannine Lucille (Parent) Patten, 69, of Lewiston, died on Dec. 19, after a lengthy illness at Central Maine Medical Center, with her family at her side.
She was born March 4, 1940, in Lewiston, to Elias “Blue Nose” and Evelyn Parent. She attended St. Patrick’s grammar school and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1958. She also graduated from Bliss College in 1964.
She decided to go to nursing school and in 1977, attended two classes at St. Dominic Regional High School to receive credits needed in chemistry and physiology. She received her diploma (with honors) from St. Dominic’s in June 1977, and started nursing school thereafter. She graduated from CMMC School of Nursing in July 1983, and retired as a psych nurse from St. Mary’s Hospital in 1998.
She enjoyed being a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader as her children came up through each step in Scouting. One of her favorite pasttimes was to play Bingo with her friends.
She was married to Arthur A. Patten from July 2, 1971, until his death on Feb. 10, 2002.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth and (James) Crookham of Cheyenne, Wyo., Patricia Me’nard of Lewiston, Richard and (Monina) Me’nard of Chesapeake, Va., Michael Me’nard of Lisbon, Jennifer and (Donald) Richardson of Lisbon and Jessica Patten of Winthrop; a stepdaughter, Lynn (Patten) Cheney of Richmond; grandchildren, Eric and Cory Pleau of Lewiston, Amanda Dedham and Joseph Me’nard of Lewiston, John, Richard II, Katherine and Peter Me’nard of Chesapeake, Va., Heidj Garland of Waterville and Carrie Procter of Winthrop; 10 great-grandchildren; and various cousins and aunts throughout New England.
She predeceased by her parents, Elias “Blue Nose” and Evelyn Parent; her brothers, Gerald and Leo Parent; and her husband of 31 years, Arthur Patten.
