Trinity Catholic School musicians performed in the annual District II Instrumental Music Festival on Jan. 30 at Deering High School in Portland. The six middle school students auditioned in the fall and were selected for seats in the district-wide orchestra and band based on their high performance scores. They were prepared by orchestra and band teacher Linda Vaillancourt and guided during the two-day festival by music teacher Deborah Colburn. The festival culminated in a concert presented by a middle school orchestra with 47 students, middle school band with 87 students, high school orchestra with 38 students, and high school band with 89 students. The performance included students from 40 schools and featured classical as well as popular pieces.
