NEWTON, Mass. — Emily Gordon, a native of Kingfield and graduate of Mount Abram Regional High School, won first place at the third annual Mount Ida College Film Festival. The festival was held March 4 to 6 at Mount Ida College.
Gordon, a senior funeral service major, was awarded $500. Her film will also be shown at the Garden State Film Festival, which will take place March 25 to 28 in Asbury Park, N.J.
The 15-minute film, titled “A Weekend in Kingfield,” follows Gordon as she travels back to her hometown for the weekend. Gordon, who produced, directed and wrote the film, gives viewers a chance to feel what it’s like to live and work in a small town in Maine.
The Mount Ida College Film Festival features a collection of award-winning independent films from the Garden State Film Festival as well as a number of videos produced by students from the college. Students compete for more than $800 in cash prizes and the opportunity to debut their film at the Garden State Film Festival.
