AUGUSTA – The Maine Lottery announced Thursday that a $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold for Wednesday’s drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at TLC Variety in Chelsea. The ticket matched four winning numbers plus the Powerball number.
Because the Power Play option was purchased for an extra $1, the winnings were multiplied by five, turning a $10,000 prize into a $50,000 prize.
There was another ticket that matched four numbers plus the Powerball. That $10,000 winning ticket was purchased at Irving Bluecanoe on Minot Avenue in Auburn.
In all, 35,360 prizes were awarded in Maine as a result of Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. Of these prizes, more than 6,500 multiplied their winnings by five with the Power Play option.
The total Powerball prize payout in Maine for Wednesday’s drawing exceeded $348,000.
