FARMINGTON — Farmington Police Department is gearing up to participate in another successful effort for this year’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

The department’s Blue Heat team continues their fundraising with a barbecue planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, behind the Municipal Building, said Bonnie Pomeroy, department secretary.

Rain or shine, officers and team members will prepare a grilled meal of hamburgers and hot dogs Friday with soda or water, chips and a homemade dessert, all for $7. Everyone are welcome.

Last year, the Blue Heat team raised nearly $6,000 and was given an award for “Best Team Spirit,” one that they share with all who supported the team through barbecues, contributions and business donations for drawings, according to the department’s website.

Hoping to increase last year’s fundraising, the team is preparing for the American Cancer Society’s June 4 Relay for Life at Mt. Blue High School, she said.
