Farm guide

FARMINGTON — The 2010 edition of “Mabel’s Book: Western Maine’s Guide to Farms and Farm Markets” is now available. Published by the Western Mountains Alliance with annual support from businesses and nonprofits in the region, the book has information on more than 80 farms and farm markets.

The book features information on where to get local food, where to find farms that accept WIC and EBT cards and what’s in season.

The free guide is available at area stores, libraries and town offices or by contacting the Western Mountains Alliance at 778-3885 or [email protected]. The book is also available for download by visiting www.westernmountainsalliance.org.

Class lunch

MEXICO — Members of the Stephens High School Class of 1952 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 7, at the Mexico Chicken Coop. All class members and guests are welcome.

RUMFORD — The veterans’ advocate will not be at the Rumford VA Clinic, third floor, on Thursday, June 10.

Plant sale

FARMINGTON — A perennial plant sale will be on Saturday, June 12, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Holman Parish House, next door to the Old South Congregational Church, Main Street. Proceeds will be used to purchase necessary supplies and medicine for the upcoming Franklin Association Partnership trips to the impoverished village of El Junco and other villages of in the region of Santa Barbara, Honduras.
