FARMINGTON — Elie Joseph Boucher, 82, died Monday, June 21, in the emergency room of Franklin Memorial Hospital, of natural causes.

He was born April 27, 1928, in St. Norbert, NB, Canada, a son of John B. and Melina (LeBlanc) Boucher. He received his education in Canadian schools and on July 2, 1963, married Carmen Babineau at St. Norbert, NB, Canada. They resided in Massachusetts, for many years, where he was employed in the maintenance department of Plastican, a plastic manufacturing plant in Leominster, Mass.

He was a quiet, kind, meticulous person who enjoyed painting different rooms in his home and working on word puzzles. He helped cut fabric as part of his contribution to organizations making quilts for the homeless. He also had a passion for cars and could recall details of all of his favorites. He loved spending time with his family and will be remembered as a wonderful “pappy” to his grand and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carmen, of Kingfield; their son, Jean Boucher and his wife, Windy, of Kingfield; their daughter, Linda Thompson and her husband, Dennis, of Hudson, N.H.; one brother, Alcide Boucher of St. Mary, NB, Canada; three sisters, Lauraine Daigle of Juliette, Quebec, Therese Colette of St. Mary, NB, Canada, and Rosairine Leger of Moncton, NB, Canada; four grandchildren, Nicole Dereszynski and her husband, George, Shauna Boucher, James “Jimmy” Thompson and Travis Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Izabella, Arianna and Isaiah Dereszynski; three sisters-in-law, Rosa Boucher of St. Anthony, NB, Canada, Jeanine Boucher and Theresa Boucher, both of Moncton, NB, Canada.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Omer, Cleophas, Oram and Gerald.
