100 years ago, 1910

Charles Horbury, Lewiston’s expert with the fly-rod, was at Lake Cobbosseecontee one day this week and brought home a string of 27 handsome black bass, ranging in weight from 1 1/2  pounds to 2 1/2 pounds each. During the day, he caught several smaller bass that did not come up to the legal length of 10 inches and were put back in the lake.

50 years ago, 1960

Lewiston’s bridges were inspected yesterday and were found to be “in pretty good shape.”

A routine inspection was made of all the bridges that span Union Water Power Co. canals by Assistant PWD Director Lucien L. Bilodeau and Omer Parent, a PWD foreman. The inspections are done while the textile plants are on vacation and the canal water is lowered. This allows the inspectors to get a close look at the condition of the abutments.

25 years ago 1985

The Lewiston Planning Board will hear two requests dealing with a large Sabattus Street mobile-home park when it meets Tuesday night.

Country Lane Estates owner Robert Foss seeks final approval of plans for a 39-lot expansion of the park and wants to rezone the site of the Lewiston Drive-In Theater to allow the expansion. The mobile-home park now has approximately 150 lots.
