BETHEL — Jeb Clarke’s first home run of the season with two outs in the seventh inning lifted Bethel-Locke Mills to a pair of stunning walkoff victories over Windham in an American Legion baseball doubleheader Saturday.
Windham entered Saturday’s games with a 6-2 record.
After Clarke’s three-run blast ended the opener with a 7-6 victory, Bethel won the nightcap, 2-1when Dan Whitney scored on a passed ball with two outs in the eighth inning.
Ben Field for Bethel (6-8) went all eight innings, firing a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Cory Howard had a pair of triples for Bethel in Game 1.
Swasey-Torrey sweeps
DIXFIELD — Swasey-Torrey improved to 8-5 on the season with an 8-6 and 10-7 doubleheader sweep of Mechanic Falls.
Tyler Gates’ three-run homer highlighted a four-run sixth that saw the Dixfield club rally from a 6-4 deficit. Aaron Fenstermacher won despite giving up 12 hits. He fanned 10.
Matt Brewster had four hits for Mechanic Falls and Chris Waters added two.
An eight-run second inning told the story in Game 2. David Guildford had a two-run single during the uprising.
Cliff Turner and Dylan Douglass each had doubles. Gates, Ryan Lafleur and Justin Conant each had two hits for Swasey, while Dan Verrill had a pair for Mechanic Falls.
