SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner invites the public to its annual and monthly summer events.

The senior lunch and bingo will be held at noon every third Wednesday, beginning July 21. The Knitting Group will meet at 4 p.m.

There will be a public meatloaf supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24.

Vacation Bible School will be from 8:45 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday, July 26 to 30. A youth group from Virginia will assist with VBS as part of their mission work. The theme is “Journeys with God.”

The monthly First Saturday Supper will be at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 7. The monthly Second Saturday Community Movie will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

The second annual barbecue and baked bean public supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, under the new picnic shelter. Take-home boxes will be available.

Another First Saturday Community Supper will be at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 4. On Monday, Sept. 6, the church will have its annual pie table at the Buckfield Labor Day festivities. Proceeds from the pie sale support the church’s “adopted” children in Africa and Haiti. For more information, contact Linda or Bill at 388-2263.

Worship at the church is from 9 to 10 a.m. every Sunday, with refreshments and a sermon discussion following for those who wish to participate. All youth are invited downstairs during worship to work in the vegetable garden, make puppets and crafts, act out skits and read Bible verses.
