RANGELEY — Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Dave Carroll, whose insightful songs are injected with a coming home sense of familiarity, will give three concerts in early August.

A master storyteller, Carroll has for more than two decades delighted fans with his clear, warm and intimate approach to music. Most recently, he became known to thousands of new fans through his “United Breaks Guitars” music protesst video. (In March of 2008, the touring Sons of Maxwell flew United Airlines from Halifax to Omaha, by way of Chicago. While waiting to deplane to make a connection, band members witnessed baggage handlers heaving their musical instruments. Carroll’s guitar was damaged and needed to be repaired. He later released a music protest video about that and how United handled the incident.)

With the release of “United Breaks Guitars” in the summer of 2009, Carroll took the Internet by storm, becoming one of YouTube’s greatest hits and gaining attention from the likes of CNN, the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Rolling Stone Magazine and the BBC.

The first two songs of the “United Breaks Guitars Trilogy” have reached viral status with more than 7 million views and climbing on YouTube.

Recognized by music industry peers, Carroll won the 2009 Nova Scotia Music Award for Digital Artist of the Year. He is nominated for the 2010 East Coast Music Award Entertainer of the Year, Fan’s Choice Video of the Year and Fan’s Choice Favourite Artist.

In 2008, Carroll released his debut solo recording, “Perfect Blue,” representing a new chapter in his music career. Sometimes witty and often insightful, his songwriting bridges the genres of pop, rock, country and folk with inspired lyrics. The solo album has received numerous recognitions, including the 2008 Nova Scotia Music Award for Inspirational Recording of the Year, nominations for the 2009 ECMA Male Solo Recording, 2009 ECMA Pop Recording of the Year and the 2008 Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for Contemporary Singer of the Year.
