AUBURN — Two people were taken to the hospital following a Sunday afternoon crash at the intersection of Court and Spring streets in Auburn.

“Like I said … I should have stayed home. I shouldn’t have went anywhere, but she wanted to go to the store,” said Gene Ahearn, 56, of Auburn, whose wife, Jane, 46,  was one of two people taken to the hospital.

According to police, the Ahearns were heading home from the grocery store around 5 p.m. on Spring Street when their Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was hit by a vehicle driven by Hepburn Gladstone, 51, of Jamaica, which was headed toward downtown Auburn on Court Street. Police said that witnesses reported that Gladstone ran the red light at the intersection of Court and Spring streets.

Gladstone was driving a Toyota RAV4 owned by Im Savath of South Portland, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. A third passenger in Gladstone’s vehicle, Bailey Fenry, 45, of Jamaica, was also taken to the hospital.

Jane Ahearn and Fenry were both taken by emergency medical services to an area hospital, but further information was not available Sunday evening.
