Food preservation

FARMINGTON — Kate McCarty, food preservation program aide of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, will offer a “Preserving the Harvest” workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Office, 138 Pleasant St., Suite 1.

Participants will receive a food preservation packet and learn recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, recommendations on equipment and safety practices. Attendees should bring a potholder. Registration deadline is Aug. 18. There is a materials fee of $10.

Voter reunion

STRONG — The annual Voter family reunion met July 25 at the home of David Conant on True Hill, with 30 adults and five children present. All enjoyed a potluck dinner, followed by a meeting and auction.

Members were from as far away as Arizona, Florida and Massachusetts. The association meets every year on the last Sunday of July. Next year’s meeting will be at True Hill. Anyone that is a descendant of Lewis or John Voter may attend.

Dollar Museum

WELD — The Dollar Museum on Church Street will premier its opening during Weld Heritage Days, July 31 and Aug. 1. The museum is curated by Abe Kreworuka, a visual artist whose work is held by private collectors across North America, including the Weld Historical Society, the Wilhelm Reich Museum, Elshar Corporate Headquarters in Sedona, Ariz. and the Secret Rose Theatre in Hollywood, Calif.

Kreworuka is an experienced artist in several media. He has written two novels, a book of short stories, prose, poetry and has worked in film, animation and virtual reality.

His series “Primitive Art In An Age of the Artificial Reproduction” is an exhibition using both digital images and traditional relief wood carvings. For more information about the museum, contact Kreworuka at 754-4105 or e-mail [email protected].

Coffee House performance

DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Congregational Church Coffee House will present “The Good Stuff” from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 30, in the annex on High Street. The cost is $5 at the door, free for children under 12 when accompanied with an adult.

“The Good Stuff,” known locally as Tony and Tricia Belskis, will perform as they are on vacation from Florida to Maine. They have just released a CD and they will play many of the songs from the CD.

Homemade desserts, coffee, iced tea and soda will be on sale all evening.
