Confer degrees

CANTON — Whitney Lodge 167 A.F. and A.M. will meet to confer the EA degree at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5. The meeting will be preceded by a casserole supper at 6:30 p.m. All Masons are welcome.

Yard sale

NORTH TURNER — The Bear Pond Improvement Association members have been collecting household items for their annual yard sale to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Bear Pond beach, next to the Turner Public Beach, Route 219. Rain date will be Aug. 21.

Early birds are welcome but will be charged a $2 fee if they wish to purchase items prior to 9 a.m. Hot dogs and beverages will be available for purchase during the yard sale. Proceeds will benefit the Bear Pond Protection Fund, which enables the association to monitor the pond for water quality, erosion concerns, invasive plant life and any other threat to the natural ecosystem of the pond.
