LEWISTON – Maurice Paul Turcotte Jr., 81, of Lewiston, died on Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on April 25, 1937 in Sanford, to Maurice and Rebecca Ringrose Turcotte Sr. He was educated locally in Lisbon, attending Lisbon High School, class of 1956.

He married the former Jeannine Gagnon on Aug. 10, 1963. Maurice worked several different jobs over the years, and prior to retirement was employed as a Mail Courier by Tri-County Mental Health. He loved the outdoors, especially when doing things with his boys, and enjoyed four-wheeling. He loved being on his tractor, and meticulously cared for his property. In his younger years, he enjoyed being a member of the Bowling League in Lisbon, hanging out with his buddies, and playing in horseshoe tournaments. After retirement, his utmost joy was doing nothing but spending time with his family, in particular his grandchildren. He loved making his kids happy, and he never forgot his many “grand-dogs”. He was able to live his dream of spending some retirement years in Florida, where he developed a love for Bingo. He became the Bingo King, never letting anything stop him from playing his favorite game.

Survivors include; his wife, Jeannine Turcotte, fours sons; Richard and wife Rita of Leeds, Michael and wife June of Greene, Gregory and wife Christine of Salem WI, Brian and wife Genevieve of Lewiston, two daughters; Lynne Turcotte and fiancée Robert Lewis of Port St. Lucie FL, Robyn and husband Roger Begin of Sabattus, two brothers; Ronald of Lisbon, Dennis and wife Maureen, of Sabattus, nine grandchildren; RaeLynn, Renee,  Chelsey, Brett, Jordan, Taylor, Hannah, Makayla, and Cameron; seven great-grandchildren; Aubrey, Sophia, River, Raven, Devyn, Avery, and Haidyn; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Lola Plummer.

Maurice had a difficult struggle for the last nine years of his life, living with the debilitating effects of a stroke. Every day was a challenge, yet his stubbornness got him through the most difficult of times. The family would like to thank the staff of 3 West at D’Youville Pavilion for caring for him the last four years of his battle.  Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home, 253 Pine Street, Lewiston, Maine, on Thursday, 6-8 p.m., services will be on Friday, 11 a.m., at Holy Family Church. Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
