LEWISTON — Two men broke into an Oxford Street apartment Wednesday night, threatening tenants at gunpoint before stealing marijuana, according to police.

Dominique C. Bailey, 29, of Lewiston was arrested and charged with robbery and burglary, each a felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

He also was charged with misdemeanor theft.

He was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail, where he is being kept on a probation hold pending a court appearance.

The break-in occurred at about 10 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

A suspicious vehicle that left the scene had been involved in an accident, but its occupants fled on foot, police said.

Police are investigating a report a gun might have been fired during the incident, although police said they could not confirm that.

Detectives were called in to investigate and assist patrol officers.

Police said there is a likelihood of additional arrests and charges.

The incident is being treated by police as an isolated incident with an intended target rather than a random act.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Detective Joey Brown at 207-513-3001, Ext. 3322, or the Lewiston Police Department at 207-513-3001 or 207-784-6421 (dispatch).
