MEXICO — A section of Route 2 was shut down Friday night as police searched for a man said to have taken refuge in a home near the Peru bridge.
Police from several agencies were at the scene at about 8:30 p.m. as the standoff continued. Firefighters from Mexico and Dixfield were called to help close the road.
Early reports were that the suspect fled into a house after police attempted to stop the car he was riding in before 8 p.m.
Shortly before 9 p.m., the suspect was reported in custody and the standoff was over.
