Benefit event

OXFORD — The Uptown Cruizahs Car Club will sponsor a benefit for Glenn Thurlow on Sunday, Aug. 29, at the American Legion Hall, 112 King St.

The cruise-in will be from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 5 p.m. Cost for adults is $7; children, $4. There will be a 50/50 and the meal will include lasagna, spaghetti, meatballs, baked ham, salad, garlic bread and homemade desserts.

Auction

SOUTH PARIS — The Oxford County 4-H Teen Exchange Club will host a “Take a Chance” auction on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the auction will start at 6 p.m. More than 200 new items and gift certificates will be offered. For more information, call Jim or Gail Trundy at 966-2913.

Seniors to meet

BETHEL — Members of the Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Rooster’s Roadhouse, Mayville Road. The menu is stuffed chicken breast and the cost is $12.

The speaker will be John Davis. Reservations for dinner must be made before 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 6, by calling Nancy at 824-3350 or Arlene at 824-2877.

Society meeting

GREENWOOD — Members of the Greenwood Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the Historical Building in Locke Mills.

Cubby Swan will present a program on wooden bowls made by Ecko in the local mill. Everyone is welcome.

Clothing center

HARTFORD —  The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4 and 18.

The Clothing Center is located on Church Street, directly opposite the Hartford Community Church. 

Society events

OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society will have its annual meeting on Friday, Aug. 27. The meeting will begin with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m.

The society will also host a rummage and bake sale, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 28.  Both events will be held at the Kaye House Museum, Pleasant Street.
